mendonesia ride share

So my friend and I really want to go on the Mendonesia camping trip, but I have no reliable transportation (my car sucks and probably won't make it that far). If anyone is going and has extra room for 2, plus sleeping bags, small amount of luggage, and food, that would be totally awesome. I live in Fremont, but can drive to wherever you are. Thanks!

8/8 - 8/10 Mendonesia, a free campout in the Mendocino Nat'l Forest

How many camp outs have there been in 2008, at least a dozen so far it seems like, with more to come before the year ends. The high ticket prices of some of these events provide exquisite deco and setups, top notch sound and lighting, and world class talent. For all of you that were unable to attend all of your favorite camp outs because of financial restraints, this party is for you- and all free party loving people everywhere!

The Acid Totem sound system returns to its renegade roots. Imagine a party based on the very foundation of early rave culture, the FREE SOUND SYSTEM. Fill your car with all your friends and camping gear, and head to the Mendocino National Forest for the first ever MENDONESIA. A 3 hour drive from SF, Oakland, and Sacramento, and just over 2 hours from Santa Rosa.

This is an intimate and free campout, since we aren't charging, everyone is expected to pack out their own trash (trash bags will be provided). There is also extreme fire danger in the area, so no fire of any kind outside of campsite fire rings. Pit toilets are on site, but there is no running water. It gets HOT here during the day, and is relatively cool at night. Sunscreen for the daytime, and extra layers at night are recommended. There is plenty of shade in the campground, but early arrival is recommended to ensure a premium site. Did we mention there's a creek that runs right next to the background?

You can expect to hear a myriad of sounds and talented DJs from the many subscenes of Northern California dance culture. Party will be kicking off Friday evening circa 6pm.

Although the party is free, donations are greatly appreciated. Feed the Totem god and keep him happy!

As many of you know, podcasting has exploded in its popularity over the last couple of years. The medium also fits perfectly into electronic dance music. For those of you that experienced the glory days of rave, you know that mix tapes were a treasured item held dear to one's heart. While Qpod may not feature Hipp-e live at Space Children, or Simply Jeff at JuJu Beats, we will be providing exclusive sets featuring DJs and artists from all over the West Coast that play an integral part in their local and regional electronic underground scenes.

For our premier Qpod, we channeled the girth of the earth and were given a chunky mix of peanut butter and psychedelic techno from the man behind Wilderbeats, DIRT! Join the Acid Totem collective as we embark on an audio mission to another pristine location, this time it's within a ten minute drive from San Francisco. Upon arriving to the location, you will be greeted by a grove of 80 foot tall Monterey Pines that protect the campground that is tucked between the steep hills in a wonderous canyon. Journey a little built further and you will find unparalleled views of the Golden Gate, San Francisco, and the Pacific.

Since space is limited, a very limited number of tickets (120) will be sold on this site through PayPal. You must purchase a presale ticket, there will be absolutely no door tickets. Camping is available Wednesday - Friday nights, but the sound system will only be up on Friday (starting around 9pm). In addition to $8 presales, if you would like to setup and camp at the location starting Wednesday or Thursday, there will be a limited number of parking passes available (10) at $20 each. Please email us for information regarding parking passes. If you purchase a parking pass, we require you to come with a full car as parking is extremely tight at the campground.

For those of you that are coming on Friday night for the party, we will be running a shuttle that is a 5 minute ride from the party. You will need to take the shuttle as the campground is down a gated road. Parking is in a safe neighborhood.

Please note: the shuttle will be running limited hours, and there will be a period when there is no shuttle service to ensure the party can go all night. Exact hours will be posted in the coming week. But will likely look something like this: Shuttle service on the hour and half hour, from 7pm - 10:30pm, and then 5am - 7am.

If you intend to bring more than just a sleeping bag, purchasing a car pass is highly recommended. Please take into consideration, no pets are allowed at the campground!

It's coming this July, another Epic Camp Out!

For those of you who made it out to our Big Sur Camp Out in 2007, you know what an epic location we used. We have another location located within a 10 minute drive from San Francisco with views just as epic as Big Sur. The venue is incredible, and we may only be able to use it ONCE! We will be selling a very limited number $10 presale tickets (120) through Paypal on www.acidtotem.net, once those are gone, that's it! You have the option to come camp with the collective Wednesday 7/9 and Thursday 7/10, music will be turned on Friday night at 10pm - 5am. There will be a very limited number of campsites available for those who want to camp, and even less spaces available for those who would like to drive in. All other attendees will be taking a 5 minute shuttle ride to the location. Stay tuned!

PS Don't think we're not returning to Big Sur for '08!

The Monterey Bay Area Regional Burners (M-PYRE, don't ask what it stands for (we haven't decided)) will be hosting a bonfire on the beach in Monterey on December 1st.

The party will go from afternoon until late (playa time)

We need DJ's and Fire Dancers - contact griffinchilders@gmail.com if you would like to perform.

Please bring some wood to burn, some food to share, your own cocktails, art, some friends, and a smile. Playa wear is highly encouraged.

As of last night, there are two porta-johns within 100 feet or so, and the fire rings are still on the beach (those were two concerns).
The plan is to take over two fire rings so that more people can enjoy the fire, so we need lots of wood. Rather than make somebody responsible for hauling around a ton of wood, I'd like everybody to bring s small bundle with them.

Directions:
From Hwy 1, take the Del Monte Ave exit
Stay on Del Monte Ave until you get to Case Verde
Turn Right on Case Verde
Go up the hill until you see the beach.
You can park on Tide to unload, but you will get a parking ticket if you stay there past dark. Instead, park on one of the residential streets further back.

After party will be at my house. My neighborhood (about 15 minutes away, so don't drink too much) has lot's of parking for small RV's and vans if you want to camp out there. Contact me for the address, or wait until the party night, and we can caravan as a group.

We can use a few volunteers for set up, greeting, and designated driving. Contact me if you'd like to help out.

Things are starting to finally cool down around the Acid Totem mothership. It was quite a hectic week building up to the camp out, and we'd like to thank all of you who braved the crazy weather, treacherous roads, and anything else you may have endured! Even though we organized the party, I can say each and every person was genuinely amazed by the amount of cool and open minded peoples that made it to Big Sur.

2007 has been our biggest, and craziest year to date, and we wholly anticipate to outdo '07 in the coming year. We've got a few things up our sleeves; a camp out for 2008 is already in the planning stages, and we'll be returning to Big Sur for at least one night next year. If you're a dj, artist, or just a happy go lucky partier who likes like what Acid Totem is doing, we're looking to add a few good people onto the collective's roster. Email us if you're interested!

Fine Cut Bodies (Chi Recordings/Record Records) - Budapest

Even though the name Fine Cut Bodies implies more than one person, behind the FCB letters is only one man, Kevin aka Attila Fodor. His musical tastes are extremely broad which is reflected in the musical preferences of *Chi Recordings*, the label he co-founded in 2000. One of the most important taste-maker DJs in Hungary, he has been one of the key DJs/promoters that built up the huge breaks scene in Hungary and he is now starting to build up the world class underground minimal and tech-house scene in Budapest.

As a DJ, Kevin's taste is determined more by his musical attitude than by any specific genre: he looks for music that's experimental but not selfish, interesting but not unlistenable. As a producer, he has released tracks in many genres and is always looking for new sonic adventures. Kevin's tracks have been licensed for numerous compilations and he has collaborated with and remixed for some of the hottest names in electronic music.

Monterey-ver?

Hi peoples!

Ok, so I've been working on securing a venue in the Monterey area for a few months now, and I'm getting close to a point at which I need to start planning, however I need some feedback from people living within driving distance.

This place is approx capacity 75, full bar (maybe full menu too, but I need feedback to get it set up!) until 2am, and a homey-sized dance floor- capable of handling the shaking asses of about 30 at a time.

There are a few things I am still working out at the moment, one of them being municipalities. Presently there are no sound ordinances in this area, however there is always some minute detail to mull over, which means I will be spending some time perusing city codes before committing to this thing fully.

I need to know if anyone would be willing to come down for a party here- it would mostly be some local acts from Monterey, Santa Cruz, and the SF area. There has to be more going on south of the city, and I think now is the time....

Fri. 9/8 Acid Totem Season Closer under the Full Moon

Well, it's been one crazy year for all of us at Acid Totem. We picked up a new resident, Unityvybe, we had some run ins with angry rednecks and the police, had weather earlier in the year that didn't agree with us, upgraded the sound system, and had some crazy, crazy parties in 2006. So while the tide is turned our way, we decided we'd like to end 2006 on the up and up, and what better way to do that than under the Full Moon? Carlos will be backin rockin the grooves under the moonlight, location will most likely be around an hour from SF (and no, we don't intend on using pigeon point for this better, which gives you all the more incentive to see which kick ass beach we have scoped out!).

i played at a couple spots last year and noticed the love of the breaks out that way. looking to play more this time around, if anyone has a system small or big let me know i cn send demos asap. play tribal funkibreaks and techno.
i also am bringing a system not very bhig but enought to mix andf party with, a few 15's and monitors. let me know if anyone wants to throw down with us, we are mainly going to do afternoon to sunset type dinner parties, since it is all already going down at night.
looking to share music and time with any and all pp who are open and rock the decks.

Artist Profiles

Equisol is the Trance project of Steven Fava. A US based artist working out of Southwest Florida, Steven holds a solid presence on the PsyBooty artist roster. He has two previous releases on PsyBooty Records, and has also seen his music released as a member of D-Space (Soular Records).

M-Field is among the newest additions to the PsyBooty roster. The collaboration of Jay Indigom (Alpha Channel / Indigom, PsyBooty) & label DJ Rob-ot (Rob Watson), these boys are poised to take the world by storm with their deep, funky progressive psychedelic style. M-Field is currently in the studio putting the finishing touch on their full-length CD to be released on PsyBooty Records in 2006.

Behind Blue Eyes / Vacuum Stalkers: Behind Blue Eyes is the project of Rene Nielsen (Beat Bizarre), and DJ Banel (Iboga Records). Their self-titled debut, released on Iboga Records, was easily one of the best progressive psychedelic albums of 2005. PsyBooty is proud to present an unreleased remix of BBE's "Rumble In The Jungle" by Russia's Vacuum Stalkers who have been making quite a name for themselves lately in the progressive circle, in addition to releasing down-tempo creations under the name Koan.

Etienne has been writing music for almost 20 years. In that time, he has experimented his way through Metal, Punk, Crossover, and Industrial, eventually creating his own unique take on Psychedelic Trance, which incorporates the various musical genres that have defined him as a composer. He has been performing live throughout the Northwest, Bay Area, and Southern California regions of the US for the past 3 years. Etienne's track, "We Come In Peace" was recently released on Monomad Media's compilation, "San Trancisco," and he has written professionally for web movies and video game companies such as EA and Sierra/Vivendi Universal.

prophei has been writing, producing, engineering, and recording electronic music for over thirteen years. His work spans various vocal, experimental, and dance-floor styles throughout that period. His industrial dance project, annodalleb (with longtime collaborator cyrus rex) will release their single "dAATh" on N3 Records in early 2006. The single and includes a burning hot remix by Hallucinogen, currently being caned worldwide by Hallucinogen himself and any DJ with an ear remotely close to the floor!

ProSect is the project of Andrey Yakovlev hailing from Israel. While Andy's music is mainly categorized as Psy Trance, he seeks to break rules and be an innovator in an underground scene he sees as lacking originality. He has found recent success seeing releases as part of multiple projects (Sound Field, Sonify, ProSect) on a diversity of record labels including Baroque, Tribal Vision, Kagdila, Oxygen, and now PsyBooty.

Duca (aka ANAX) is Dusan Sekic, of Belgrade, Serbia. He released his first full-length album as ANAX on Kagdila Records in 2004. Since then he has concentrated on multiple projects including his progressive project, Duca. "Pozitiva" is a progressive monster, which is sure to be one of the standout tracks on this compilation. Its deep dreamy synth work and smooth pulsing rhythms will appeal to fans and DJs across many electronic music genres.

Sound Field is the collaboration of Andrey Yakovlev (ProSect, Sonify) and Liron Atia (The Poofs). This unique meeting of the minds spawns a unique take on morning trance. Lush atmospherics, melodic and harmonic work, live instruments, deep, grooving rhythms, and excellent production quality are all hallmarks of the Sound Field aesthetic. The duo has been released on Oxygen Records and will have more material released on Crotus Records in 2006.

Aside form the fatal shooting at 1015 this weekend, our scene has suffered even more. Our friend Shawn was killed in a car accident on Sunday morning.
On Saturday night Shawn attended gorilla love affair. When he left tried to cross the bay bridge on foot after he had left the party. He was killed by a hit and run accident. As paramedics arrived he was pronounced dead. It makes me happy to know that he didn’t suffer much. If he had survived he would have been traumatized for life.
A lot of people knew Shawn as the chubby goofy guy with the blue hair but to those who knew him he was a great friend. I am not just saying this because he is dead. He made everyone he meets at the party feel welcome. The underground scene is at a great loss. I personally take this as losing a good friend. I have lost friends in the past, and I will continue to do so as I continue to live. Death is a part of life. I know that death in not the end. We should all remember him, and celebrate his passing with love and acceptance, instead of morning him in pain. I’m sure that is what he would want to come out of his friends in the mist of this tragedy.
I would like to call upon the community to bring together a memorial, and give our loved one proper respect. Please if you are interested in helping out e-mail me via tribe.
Sorry to be the barer of bad news but it must be said.

Alas the time has come, Last week, at the church next
door, I found out that the owner of our building has a
developer called Madison Park. They are planning on
demolishing the building and putting in 58
condo's(what they call single family units). Each one
is comprised of 1 car garage,1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1
living room, 1 kitchen/dinning room, 1 10 foot back
yard. Each unit will be selling for $400k. The
landlord, snuck this one up on us so we wouldn't have
a chance to fight it.

At the meeting at the church next door, it became
apparent that the developement company and the
landlord would make a killing on this deal. The city
has already Ok'd a similar plan they had regarding a
piece of property acrossed the street, for 16units.
To them it was all about money. They didn't even
bother to let anyone in the neighborhood know about
it. The people from the church were furious as were
many of us here in the building.

We are going to join forces with the church and make
sure it doesn't happen. The church will have endless
parking problems and we will be out of our finally
well established community, within the year. There is
no plan for any eco-friendly construction, this
project is all about money, and these developers have
eye'$ of dollar sign$.

The Landlord owns 2 companies that I know of,
1- Bathology (they sell cheap glycerine soaps with
little toys in them)

2- Thai Kitchen (they sell cheap pesticide processed
food from Thailand, which can be found in your local
Supermarket.)

We need solidarity,

Everyone who is a part of the Acid Totem collective would like to thank anyone and everyone who made it out to any of our parties in 2005. Since the collective's inception in Summer 2003, we have seen a lot of rocky times, and celebrated the good times as well. 2003 & 2004 were growing and learning years for us, and with the wisdom we took from our past mistakes and accomplishments, we were able to put that knowledge into 2005 which has by far and away been our best year to date by a LONG SHOT. As for the rest of 2005, it doesn't look like we'll be doing any parties. We are planning to do an underground warehouse party sometime in the first half of 2006, and are already marking the calendar for some possible dates for full moons and outdoor renegades. We'll have some great surprises for you all in 2006 including some new beautiful outdoor spots we've been scoping out, along with a new sound system which is MUCH NEEDED! Although we won't be doing anything while it remains wet and cold, don't write us off- we'll be back late winter/early spring of 2006!

Tribal Souls is back doing what we were meant to do: throw sick underground parties focused on the vibe and the music. There won’t be any high price light shows or aspiring drama majors dancing on platforms. However, there will be sick ass beats put down by some of the best dj’s around. This underground spot is actually several rooms. We will be using the “Theater Room”. This room is set-up perfect for our initial party there. It has several couches for lounging on and a nice, two level dance floor that will give you plenty of room to get your groove on. The chill room from last party will be expanded to include a second sound system and a whole bunch of great Dj’s. We’ll have the Tribal Souls rules in effect for this party so remember: THERE ARE NO RULES!! Except one, handle your own. We’ll have plenty of nasty, dark, techy, underground house for ya. Call the info line (415-376-3476) after 7pm to get directions.

We're building this party to be the largest and craziest outdoor that we've had to date! Everyone welcome, fire dancers, tribal drummers, freaks, geeks n goblins, and YOU! As suggested by one of our fellow full moon patrons that would should try and bring out an old school dj- we were able to get in touch with Matthew Gadfather who's been spinning house since 1991. He has played at such legendary parties as A Rave Called Sharon, The Gathering, Mega Buzz, Planet Rock, Origin, Love Affair and Fusion- just to name a few. You can expect a night of wicked Acid House along with a few surprises. Older and younger partiers alike will experience a look back at the sound that helped build the san francisco club + rave scene. Hope to see you all there! :)

Directions for Day party on Sunday 9/4

So here are the directions, but a few things first before we give them. We'll be starting off around 12:30pm, if you want to bbq that's fine, just bring your own grill + food. If you are going to bring drinks, please be discreet and bring CANS or Plastic Bottles. Please find LEGAL parking. If you want to look out for a marker on highway 1, there is a tall light house on pigeon point road that you can't miss. Please note, that pigeon point road loops around, we will be at the NORTHERN end of pigeon point, the only real place there is a sandy beach. Noooow, the directions.

If you have google earth you can just plug in 925 Pigeon Point Road Pescadero, CA

From SF:

Take I-280 SOUTH - go 14.7 mi
Take the CA-35 exit onto SKYLINE BLVD toward CA- 92 HALF MOON BAY/BUNKER HILL DR - go 1.2 mi
Turn Right on HALF MOON BAY RD[CA-92] - go 2.0 mi
Bear Left to follow CA-92 - go 5.1 mi
Turn Left on CABRILLO HWY - go 20.6 mi
Turn Right on PIGEON POINT RD - go 0.1 mi
Park on the right side, and we will be at the beach on the right side of the road as well.

From San Jose:

Take the I-280 exit toward SAN FRANCISCO -
Take the CA-92 exit onto CANADA RD[CA-92] toward HALF MOON BAY - go 1.2 mi
Bear Left to follow CA-92 - go 7.1 mi
Turn Left on CABRILLO HWY - go 20.6 mi
Turn Right on PIGEON POINT RD - go 0.1 mi
Park on the right side, and we will be at the beach on the right side of the road as well.

From Oakland:
Take 880 South
Take the CA-92 West exit toward SAN MATEO BR - go 26.0 mi
Turn Left on CABRILLO HWY/Highway 1 - go 20.6 mi
Turn Right on PIGEON POINT RD - go 0.1 mi
Park on the right side, and we will be at the beach on the right side of the road as well.

From Santa Cruz:
From 7/11 on the West Side Take Highway 1 North - go 26 miles
Turn left at the Second Pigeon Point Road which is about 1/2 mile after the first (it loops around)
Go approx 100 yards and park on the right side

Intimate Outdoor party tonight at abandoned radar site

It looks like myself (ben haus) and Jason of Raw Heaven are planning a small
party tonight atop an old nike radar site near San Rafael. The area is
amazing with great views of Marin County as well as the San Francisco Bay.
The site sits atop a 1000' hilll. However, the catch is if you want to go,
you'll most likely have to follow us up there by car, there is an electronic
gate on the way up which requires a gate code. I'm guessing we'll be
heading up there sometime beetween 9-11pm, if you are interested, please
